Summary :
The development of occupational therapist’s professional identity is a concern because studies show that occupational therapists fail to clearly explain what occupational therapy is and to clarify their role into interprofessional teams. The main question at the origin of this study is therefore : How is the occupational therapist’s professional identity built ? To answer this question, we conducted a literature review, which helps us to identify a model originated from educational sciences, the Processus de construction de l’identité professionnelle de l’enseignant (PCIPE), which permits to understand the occupational therapist’s professional identity development. After specifying the problem at the origin of the study and clarifying the research methodology, we present the main characteristics of the PCIPE and enlighten the process of the identity development of the occupational therapist using this model. Finally, we lay the groundwork for future empirical research on the subject.
