Summary :

Medically serious pressure ulcers represent an important public health concern due to the devastating impact this may have on those affected and the significant financial impact on the health care community. Medical recommendations for the prevention of pressure ulcers do not seem to be sufficient to prevent the episodes of pressure sores in the lives of people with spinal cord injuries. As a result, the University of Southern California (USC) team led by Florence Clark, and associated with the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, has been involved in the development of an occupational therapy intervention program in order to limit the occurrence of serious pressure ulcers. The development process of the Lifestyle Redesign® program, initially developed for aging people, has been transposed to the prevention of pressure ulcers and appears to be relevant and effective.
