Summary :
The TaPasS (Temps d’accompagnement Prévention activités signifiantes et Santé) health promotion programme is aimed at ageing people living at home. Designed by occupational therapists, it is based on scientific studies that prove the links between healthy occupations and health. It leaves plenty of room for individual empowerment.
In Brittany, the IFPEK’s Health Prevention team experimented this programme in a sensitive district of the city of Rennes, in conjunction with local medico-social and cultural partners.
Over a period of several months, two occupational therapists worked with eight people aged over 60 in themed group workshops and individual interviews.
This feedback report describes how the occupational therapists took ownership of the TaPasS programme, reflected on it and led it, and the changes experienced by the participants, such as their awareness of the need to change their lifestyle habits and the process of building social links.
