Summary :

This article explores the actions taken in the UK to broaden the scope and strengthen the profession of occupational therapy in the domain of vocational rehabilitation. Issues related to UK unemployment, disability at work and long-term sickness absence are explored and the resulting consequences and opportunities for occupational therapy are underlined. The objectives and steps taken by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy are analysed. This article may serve to highlight possibilities for the development and expansion of domains of practice in French occupational therapy.
