Summary :
The purpose of this study is to explore Moroccan occupational therapy student’s perceptions of their professional identity. It focuses particularly on the challenges they face when explaining their profession to patients and other healthcare professionals. This qualitative descriptive study aims to describe the characteristics and shared values by Morocco’s first future occupational therapists.
It is based on semi-structured interviews conducted with 27 occupational therapy students from the first and second graduating cohorts. The interviews covered seven topics, all related to professional identity.
The results revealed a lack of clarity regarding professional identity and various strategies for constructing it, as perceived by the country’s future first occupational therapists.
In this article, I’ll start by exploring the different keywords. After presenting the methodology used, the results will be discussed in light of Claude Dubar’s theory of socialization.
