Summary :
In 2022, depressive disorders caused the highest number of sick leaves from work in France. In their lifetime, 15-20% of the population will be affected by this illness. Therefore, it is a crucial public health issue for our society. The aim of this study is to assess the efficiency of an occupational therapy program of interventions using simulated virtual reality activities in order to improve the occupational participation of people suffering from a major depressive disorder. The experimental method used is qualitative. The hypothetico-deductive approach was used to design a research protocol and then develop the innovative VRGO-1 program. The 18 sessions included in the program adopt a comprehensive approach and enable a chronological thematic analysis, thanks to the MOHO tools. Virtual reality provides tools for occupational therapy to set up activities and environments in more precise and progressive manner. Virtual reality allows to target skills and interests that are sometimes unattainable in real-life. The immersive nature of virtual reality could have an effect on the symptoms of the disease and play a role in improving occupational participation.
