Summary :
The World Federation of Occupational Therapists said in 2012 that Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession concerned with promoting health and well-being through occupation. In France, the 2010 training curriculum helps to develop an occupational therapy position in a client-centered and occupation based approach. The meeting between the occupational therapist and the person with disabilities must therefore be based on a rigorous approach and using assessment tools that guarantee a practice where the client’s words and wishes are respected and the purpose of our intervention is aiming for the improvement of occupational performance. The CFE (Cognitive Functional Evaluation) process is an example of evaluation process developped for people with cognitive impairment and respecting these principles. The authors offer us many assessment tools contributing to a practice based on occupation and therefore contributing to the evaluation of the activity and participation, as defined in the International Classification of Functioning.
