The practice of the occupational therapist evolves with society, bringing paradigm shifts. In recent years, occupational therapists have relied on occupational sciences to be part of an intervention focused on occupation. However, its implementation is not always easy to apply depending on the institutional context, both material and interpersonal.
Oncology is a specialty representing a new field of practice for the occupational therapist.
The objective of this article is to discuss the implementation of an occupation-centered approach in an acute care environment, particularly in the field of hematology.
This professional practice article retraces the collaboration of an occupational therapist in a hematology acute care department over the past few years. Obstacles to the implementation of a centered occupation approach have been identified and avenues for reflection are proposed to support its development.
